Berkeley County Kids Who Care, Inc. (KWC) is a non-profit, 501(c) 3 organization founded in the 1991-1992 school year to work with students in Berkeley County, SC.

The Kids Who Care program is involved in two projects each year:

  1. An environmental project competition
  2. An environmental field day

KWC’s purpose is to raise the environmental ethic and enhance the teaching of science in Berkeley County by working with children when they are most receptive, in elementary school.  The program is open to public, private, and home schooled students in kindergarten through fifth grade.

Our goal is to help teachers enhance their environmental teaching and be a resource for them. In turn the teachers are able to help the students develop a sense of responsibility and become an influence in their homes and eventually the community. We provide help and encouragement to the teachers throughout the year as they conduct their projects with the students and we provide additional help to the teachers through a list of resources available to help with specific subject matters.

The governing board is composed entirely of volunteers from businesses, organizations, and the community.
